to bake

cookiecollage
I have an ongoing battle with chocolate chip cookies... I have yet to find my favorite recipe... But, I refuse to give up.

Do you use butter or Crisco with your recipe? Milk Chocolate or Semi-sweet chocolate? Any other tricks I should know?

From one cookie lover to another, please share if you feel so inclined.

I have been on the hunt too and my sister just brought some over that I think passed the favorite CC cookie test. She was so proud of my approval.

I will get the recipe from her and email it to you. They were super super yummy.

My mom makes a mean cc cookie. She uses half crisco and half butter. And, I always use milk chocolate chips, but that is just my personal taste. If I remember right, Maeve has a really good recipe (it may be another type of cookie), you should ask her too. Good Luck...I'd be happy to taste you experiments anytime.

This is my new favorite recipe. It is so good a little under cooked with a big scoop of icecream.

My Mom always uses "butter flavored crisco" and they seem to turn out really good.

Those cookies look SO yummy. You'll have to tell me if you find a favorite.

I am partial to the semi-sweet chocolate chips! I have never made a perfect cookie - you'll have to let us know the perfect recipe if you find it!

Hi, I am a passer-by who has some fun info on cookies.....

For Choc Chip....add a dash or two of cinnamon, and it puts an extra "umph" in it....also to make cookies a bit more fluffy....add just a little bit more flour, and an extra egg...(depending on the recipe, I add a 1/4 cup at a time each time I make it, to make sure they don't dry out)
And I also like to make mine peanutbutter and chocolate chip, 1/2 bag milk chocolate and 1/2 bag resses chips....although I think now they sell that combo in one bag....but it has been a while since I have looked....

The secret to great cookies is to beat the butter, sugar, egg, vanilla mixture for a really, really long time. Beat until the sugar granules are nearly dissolved and the mixture has become light and fluffy. Then make sure you don't overbake. I usually take them out when the tops start to look dry, then leave them on the cookie sheet for a minute or two to firm up the foundations. Also, I use real butter and a tablespoon of vanilla in my recipe. And extra chocolate chips (3 cups instead of 2). Oh, and I really like to use Guittard chocolate chips because they are bigger than most other brands.

Tiffany shared your post and since I love my chocolate chip recipe (and I've shared it on my blog before), I decided to comment and share my two cents and my recipe:

1 pound butter (real unsalted butter is key, and yes that is a whole package)
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 cups brown sugar
3 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla (I prefer mexican vanilla)
6 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
chocolate chips - my favorite are the large Guittard milk chocolate chips

Bake at 350 degrees for 8-12 minutes depending on your oven

Shannon has great advice about beating the eggs, butter, sugar and vanilla - you want this part to be really creamy before you move onto adding flour. With milk chocolate chips I also swap out the vanilla for almond extract for a different flavor that is heavenly!
Good luck and happy baking!

So funny because I have been on an endless hunt as well. My problem is they always fell--so I added more flour then they were dry. I found a Martha recipe that had sour cream and so far that's my favorite. Let me know what you find out!
