Movie Suggestions, please...

What are some of your most favorite guilty pleasure movies? Unlike a lot of women out there, I won't be seeing "Sex and the City," (tonight, anyway) however I'm thinking it may be a good night for me to watch "chick-flicks." (I just realized how badly I hate that phrase.)

So... if anyone's out there reading this, lemme know!

Reading

I haven't written about the books I've read lately... I always appreciate any book recommendation, so thought I'd post mine here, just in case any of you are looking for a new read.

I heard great things about "The Other Boleyn Girl," so I started reading it last month. I'll admit, it took me a long time to finish it. But, around 400 pages in (yes, it took me that long) it became quite the page-turner. Some of the writing was overly cheesy, but still, very interesting. I'd recommend it. (Now, I'm dying to see the movie- anyone see it? Any good?)

In the middle of reading "Boleyn" I stopped to read the sweet story of "Grayson." Based on actual events, it's about a bond that forms between a whale and a girl who's on her morning swim. Fun, light read, and the cover art's adorable.

Currently, I'm reading the newest Jodi Picoult book for my book club. Picoult always picks such controversial topics for her novels, and this also is true in "19 Minutes." So far the story's about a high schooler who opens fire on his classmates. Not sure what I think about the book yet... But, it's definitely kept me intrigued, as she gives a lot of the back story that leads up to this extreme event.

Reading something you're loving? Do share!

You Know Your Husband Loves You When...

He comes looking for you while you're out on a bike ride because he's worried that his sometimes-clutzy wife won't make it home safe and sound.

(I ended up riding to my friend's house and talking for a bit longer than I had planned.)

Tagged.

Made a wish

Thanks Catherine of Little Glowing Lights for tagging me! I had a nice respite from all things computer over the long weekend, but I'm back...

What I was doing ten years ago...?

(Wow. 10 years ago doesn't feel that long ago.)

+I was just about to graduate high school. Hoping to keep in touch with some of my bestest friends, say goodbye to many I may not see for another 10 years (Yes, you all talked me into going to my reunion.), and learn all about independence.

+ I wasn't sure what I wanted to study in school. I went to the local community college to help navigate what I wanted to study. Instead, I think I confused myself even more. However, I always loved school.

5 Things on My To-do List today...

(Yay! Think I accomplished most of these!)

+ Go furniture shopping. (We found a great deal at Down East. Hoorah!)

+ Go to the grocery store.

+ Plan my week.

+ Weed. (Darn rain messed this chore up.)

+ Hang-out with Jeffrey.

+Print off some pics

Snacks I enjoy...

(Oh boy, where to begin.)

+ Anything salty

+ Anything sweet

+ Banana, orange, or apple

+ Pudding (seriously)

+ Pace Popsicles (a new favorite- Tiger's Blood is my personal fave)

Things I would do if I were a billionaire!

+ Buy my parents all sorts of things

+ Buy my siblings all sorts of things

+ Travel. Travel. Travel.

+ Pay off our new home.

+ Open shop at Jeff's art gallery.

Places I've lived before:

(This is pretty boring.)

+ Sandy, Utah

+ Logan, Utah

+ London, England

+ Murray, Utah

+Salt Lake City, Utah

And, if you're reading this, consider yourself tagged...!

To Go or Not to Go?

So... I'm trying to decide if I should go to my 10 year high school reunion coming up next month. I've heard a handful of opinions on this topic:
  • My 10 year high school reunion was the funnest! You have to go.
  • I didn't go... why would I? I hated high school.
  • Reunions are awkward. Don't go.

So, I've put up a poll to see what you think: to go or not to go?

Wil-freakin'-co!

I surprised Jeff yesterday with WILCO tickets! We absolutely adore this band, so we can't wait to see them play again.

For details for all you locals, click here... So. Excited.

3 Years

Us; 3 years

Jeffrey and I are celebrating our three year anniversary today! I can't believe it's been three years because it's flown by so fast. I have to say, I've loved every minute. I can't imagine sharing my life with anyone else.

(Had to switch-out that picture. This was us yesterday in our new backyard, with a tri-pod, I would've loved to take a dozen more pictures, but Jeff wasn't that thrilled to pose.)

"The Office" Finale

Jeff and I laughed pretty hard at last night's season finale of "The Office." One of my favorite scenes:

I especially love that "Crash" is playing-- and the line of the song that's being played? Killed. Me. Oh, and Jim's subtle comments. Hilarious.

New Death Cab: Do you or don't you?

Do you like the new Death Cab for Cutie album? (You can stream "Narrow Stairs" in its entirety here. )

For me, I like the last half of the album... Favorite tracks, so far, include:

+ Talking Bird

+ You Can Do Better Than Me

+ Your New Twin Bed

(And, Gibbards all over the analogies again this album... Talking Birds, Twin Beds, Long Division... but, it makes for great lyrics.)

Glad to have even more songs from this great band.

Chengdu Diary

Like many of you, I'm astonished at what's happening over in China. It's almost too disastrous to believe.

I've been curiously listening to NPR Hosts of "All Things Considered" experiences while they are over there, not intending to experience an earthquake, but have now turned their journalistic efforts into what's happening to the people there.

You can read their blog excerpts from their "Chengdu Diary" here.

Picture Time

My friend at work asked if I'd take her engagement pictures last week... I had so much fun hanging-out with them and snapped away. Aren't they a beautiful couple?

a+d

I also got to take pics of my sister's friend with her family:

dandelions

(This was her little girl giving her a dandelion- so sweet.)

I've been busy, busy... And, still sick, sick... hope to feel better soon.

:Mother's Day Facts:

479
(One of my favorite Mother photos.)

I'm working on a project at work, and found these Mother's Day Facts that I thought were so... can't find the word I'm looking for... neat(?). The first is my favorite! How sweet is that?

+ Many of the sweaters worn by Mr. Rogers on the popular television show, “Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood,” were actually knitted by his real mother.

+ More personal telephone calls are made on Mother’s Day in the US than on any other day in any other country.

+ The custom of honoring mothers goes back as far as the 1600s in England, where it began as Mothering Sunday.

+ The idea of a Mother's Day in the United States was first addressed in 1872 by Julia Ward Howe, a writer, abolitionist, and suffragist who wrote the words to “Battle Hymn of the Republic.”

+ Anna Jarvis organized Mother’s Day observances in West Virginia and Pennsylvania on May 10, 1908 and pushed to have it made a national holiday.

+ In 1911, President Woodrow Wilson made it a national holiday, and in 1914, Congress designated the second Sunday in May as Mother’s Day.

+ The following were all invented by mothers: Alphabet blocks, Baby Einstein videos, Barney (the purple dinosaur), diapers, the folding crib, movable doll eyes, the school desk.

The Swell Season

Saw them on Friday night, and it was ah-mazing. We didn't think we'd stay too long; I came down with a nasty cold and was feeling tired and sick.

But, we could not leave. Glen Hansard was so engaging with the crowd. He'd tell us stories about each and every song they played.

Also, as you can see when he plays, he is so passionate when he sings. And, the sound was perfect. (Except for people who were talking way too loud.)

Marketa I. was just as lovely and is quite an impressive musician; their harmonies were flawless.

Also, he had some of his fellow musicians from The Frames on stage, one of which was an amazing violinist. The added strings were sooo lovely.

So happy we went.

(This is a clip from the show. Not by me. We weren't that close.)
