Gus is 1!

Our baby boy is one. We finally got to celebrate this boy today with cookies, cotton candy, Lion cake (when we were younger, my mom always made these amazing birthday cakes, so I am trying to continue that tradition), and our wonderful families. It was so fun to plan a party for my baby boy. If you can't tell, I think he really loved his cake (and party).

Gus + Balloon

I took pictures of Gus hanging out by a big balloon that I used for a baby shower. He didn't know what to make of it, and was a little scared of it, but it sure makes for some cute pictures.

(My baby boy is almost one in only a couple of weeks- I cannot believe it!)

Motherhood

I threw a baby shower for one of my favorite friends over the weekend (that's her belly pictured above). I remember how just a year ago, I too was being showered with so many baby gifts- and feeling so loved by family and friends. I love that so many people come together to celebrate motherhood- because it truly is an amazing thing.

Outside

Though we've enjoyed a couple walks outside this week, we cannot wait for the weather to be warm so we can play, swing, slide outside- especially now that this guy is crawling and exploring everything!

I am having a horrible time removing songs like "baby you're a firework" and "it's a quarter after one, I'm all alone, and I need you now" from my head. It's driving me insane. But, I found the perfect antidote thanks to my Mix Club:

"I Capture The Castle"

Do you know that feeling when you're reading a book that you cannot wait to sit down with at the end of the day? That's how I'm feeling about Dodie Smith's book "I Capture The Castle." I absolutely adore the way the narrator, a young 17-year old Cassandra, voices the story. Her witty sense of humor has me laughing out loud at times.

Anyone else read it?

(And, I know there's a film adaptation of the book, which I will gladly be watching once I am done with the book.)

Gus's Quilt

This is the quilt my mom handmade for my baby boy. I selected the design and fabric, and she made it- isn't it beautiful?

She had to hand-stitch each and every triangle that make up the circles. His quilt is something that me and Gus will cherish forever.

And, if you can't tell, Gus absolutely loves it.

Cannot believe my baby is already 10 months old! Time? It really does go by fast- something I didn't notice until I became a mom.

"An Education"

Though this movie left me feeling a little uncomfortable, I thought Carey Mulligan played her role perfectly. But, I particularly enjoyed the soundtrack- specifically, Beth Rowley's tracks from the movie. Thought they helped set a swag vibe to this '60'ish, British drama.

I am pretty tempted to purchase this t-shirt. Based on recommendations from many friends, we finally watched "Friday Night Lights," and I have become obsessed. Rumor has it that season five will be airing on NBC this summer. Summer cannot come fast enough. I NEED to know what happens to ol' Tim Riggins!

Between the Lines

Working on a new photo project. This is the first image. I think I should blog more. Especially because my favorite blogger ever has been adding so many fun images to her blog that it's got me wanting to share too.

Anyway. If you're still a reader of my blog- hello!- long time no see! I've been busy with a ten-month old who is pretty adorable. Hopefully I'll have more to share soon.

This Year in Music

I usually do a write-up of my favorite music from the year, which I LOVE to do because it's a good way to assess the artists I really fell in love with. But, as you can tell, I was totally preoccupied this year with my sweet baby boy. So, now, I am relying on others to tell me who to tune in.
